County commission meets with department heads

The Cloud County board of commissioners met with department heads during its regular meeting on Monday at the Courthouse.
Department head reports presented to the board include:
Mike Hake, Solid Waste director – Transfer station road is fixed and will be sealed on Tuesday. The transfer station will reopen on Tuesday.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator – Sealing this week, repairs are being done on Union Road (Fort Kearney), work is scheduled to begin on September 9 on 11th Street from the city limits to Highway No 9 and residents and businesses are being contacted. They will have flaggers, but recommended that residents use an alternate path if possible. The work will take approximately a week.
Barry Porter, Appraiser – Routine business.
Brandi Bray, Health Department administrator – Community Baby Shower was attended on Sunday. The shower was funded by a Dane G. Hansen Foundation grant, tuberculosis testing will be done on an estimated 50 Cloud County Community College students and the department is busy with school physicals and Kan Be Healthy's.
Henry Eilert, maintenance manger – Created a schedule of routine work that needs done and is keeping up on the mowing.
Shella Thoman, County Clerk – Food bank challenge ends Monday, discussed if the next challenge should be a team or individual event, the general election will be November 5 and Cloud County did not have a primary election.
During the the meeting, the board approved a wage change for Walter J. Kohli from $14.44 to $15.02 effective August 18 due to his introductory period ending.
The board approved payroll deductions and benefits totaling $68,108.63 and the following payroll expenses totaling $161,521.84:
General Fund, $87,794.64; Appraisal, $5,056.19; Noxious Weed, $1,676.46; Solid Waste, $4,420.12; Road & Bridge, $46,022.21; County Health, $15,090.30; Election, $1,461.92.
