County commission to adopt countywide Neighborhood Revitlaization Plan

Following a visit with Terry Koch, Clyde mayor, and Mari Detrixhe, Clyde Economic Development director, Cloud County board of commissioners voted to approve publishing a public notice for two consecutive weeks of its intent to adopt the countywide Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. The board set the public hearing for 10:45 a.m., March 29.
In other business, Ellen Anderson, JJA/Community Corrections director, presented a resolution for the confirmation of appointments of the following persons to the JJA Advisory Board: Craig Cousland, Beloit City Council member, as Beloit City Commission representative; Gary Frint, Belleville Chief of Police, as Law Enforcement (Chief of Police) representative; Gene Helms, Washington County commissioner, as Washington County Commission representative; Brian Marks, Cloud County Sheriff as Law Enforcement (Sheriff) representative; Bev Mortimer, USD #333 superintendent, as Education representative; Mark Rothfuss, outpatient therapist, as Mental Health representative; Denis Shumate, Community, as Mitchell County commissioner representative; Guy Steier, Cloud County magistrate judge, as Judiciary representative; Regine Thompson, attorney, as Belleville City Commission representative; Robert Walsh, Cloud County Attorney, as Prosecution representative. The board approved the resolution confirming the appointments to the 12th Judicial District Community Corrections Advisory Board.
Anderson also discussed the JJA and Community Corrections grants.
Justin Murdock, Solid Waste director reported the roof on the west building at the Recycling Center had a piece of tin loose and that Geisler Roofing would make the repairs on Tuesday. He also reported that more rock is needed for the loading dock at the Recycling Center and that the Transfer Station will begin its late hours March 17.
Andy Asch, highway administrator, presented the agreement for Federal Aid Construction Engineering Inspection Services by Consultant for Bridge Project 15C-4253-01 which the board approved signing.
During the monthly department head meeting, these county officials gave reports:
SHERIFF Brian Marks reported his department had solved the burglary at the Clyde school which occurred in October or November and that a replacement vehicle has been ordered and will be here in approximately two-three weeks.
TREASURER Sheryl Williams reported delinquent personal property tax warrants have been sent to the sheriff and that her office will be printing second half tax statements this month.
DEPUTY APPRAISER Jan Price reported her office is working on 2010 final values and working personal property returns.
HIGHWAY administrator Andy Asch reported his department is doing tree work and crushing rock when weather permits and that he is working on the five-year bridge plan that is due into the State, March 24; and he is checking chemical prices for this year.
SOLID WASTE director Justin Murdock reported he is having the signs at the Transfer Station refurbished and that the Recycling Center is ready to ship a load of newspaper and plastic.
CO-HEALTH administrator Diana Gering reported her department is preparing for “Ladies Night Out” which promotes Breast Cancer Awareness and Heart Health.
CO-HEALTH administrator Diane McNichols reported the Health Department is working on grant applications and that the number of immunizations given is increasing. Immunizations will be given Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
MAINTENANCE manager Jim Johnson reported the pump at the Health Department had been rebuilt and discussed complaints he had received about the parking south of the courthouse.
CLERK Linda Bogart reported her office is preparing for the April 6 General Election and that Cloud County will be host for the North Central Kansas County Clerks’ Association District meeting, March 11.
DISTRICT COURT CLERK LeaDawn Throckmorton discussed furloughs for court employees.
During regular session the board:
—approved department payrolls totaling $122,674.90.
—received information concerning the TIF projects that have been completed prior to this year so the TIF file would be complete.
—discussed routine Highway department and Weed department matters with Asch.
––discussed with Jim Johnson, Maintenance; Larry Stoss, Bucher, Willis & Ratliff; Brian Marks, Sheriff, the generator for the Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center. No decision was made.
—discussed various items with County Attorney Robert Walsh.
