Ducks Unlimited banquet raises over $47,000

More than $47,000 for wildlife habitat conservation and preservation was raised during the 36th Annual Cloud County Ducks Unlimited Banquet Saturday night at the Cloud County Fairgrounds.
There were over 270 people attending the banquet.
Ducks Unlimited (DU) is a grassroots, volunteer-based organization. Its members are conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts who live primarily in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
DU volunteers host more than 4,000 grassroots fundraising events annually.
During the past fiscal years, 83 percent of the Ducks Unlimited expenditures were converted directly to conservation work vital to ducks, geese and other wetland-dependent wildlife.
Currently, a Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism project in conjunction with Ducks Unlimited is going on at the Jamestown Wildlife Area.
The Cloud County Ducks Unlimited chapter has been in existence for 38 years. It was one of the top 20 charters in the state last year.
There are 28 members serving on the local DU committee. The regional director is former Concordian Josh Williams.
There were over 40 greenwings, youth under age 17, attending the banquet. They had an opportunity to win lifetime hunting/fishing licenses.
Members of the Concordia Panther Trap Club and the 4-H Shooting Sports assisted with the banquet to earn points for shells.
