April 6, 1972

Steve Horkman, a 1970 graduate of Concordia High School, had been hired as a City Police officer... third and fourth-grade band members, Parker Thornton, Shawn Champlin, Bryce Johnston, Darwin Folkerts, Mike Bachamp, Susan Overstreet, Denise Castonguay, Renee Chaput, Janelle Collette, Leysa Kim and Eric Christensen, performed rhythm band numbers during the Washington School Musicale for PTA... Airman First Class Michael Yaksich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Yaksich, had been named Outstanding Airman in his unit at Sheppard AFB, Texas.

After serving 20 years with the County Commission on Aging, Vivian Almon, Cloud County coordinator for senior citizens, was retiring... the Cloud County Panthers had two teams compete in the Kansas Special Olympics Basketball Tournament at Fort Hays State University, while Jason Appleby, Rachel Burgess, and Ronald Gosselin competed in the individual skills competition... serving as hostess to the 94 Club, Aline Luecke presented the lesson on making a woven patchwork pillow top using fusible interfacing and a fusible web.

The voters of Cloud County overwhelmingly supported the use of revenue bonds for the construction of a new law enforcement center... approximately 640 children attended the Community Easter Egg Hunt... The Cloud Juniors 13-1 volleyball team, Jordan Eshbaugh, Kora Snavely, Mariah Blazek, Brianna Maclean, Brittany Maclean and Cydney Bergmann, coached by Rio Brown, was ranked fourth out of 150 teams in Kansas... wheat was selling at $6.93, corn was $6.33, and milo was $5.95 per bushel on local markets.

Concordia High School student Madelyn Meyer created a stained glass piece which was auctioned off at the 37 th Cloud County Scholarship Auction... Students of the Month for March at Concordia Middle School were Payton Breese, grade five and Brett Rosenbaum, grade six... Scott and Lori Halfhide observed their 25th wedding anniversary on April 4... wheat was selling at $3.32, corn was $3.09, and milo was $2.84 per bushel on local markets.
