County board opens bids

Cloud County board of commissioners, Monday, opened bids for a replacement vehicle for the Sheriff’s Department. These included Babe Houser Motor Co., $29,304 for a 2010 work truck and $30,769 for a 2010 LS pickup and Womack Sunshine Ford, $23,368.65 for a 2010 XLT pickup and $22,316.65 for a 2010 XL pickup.
Commissioners suggested that Sheriff Brian Marks inspect the vehicles to determine which would best suit his department’s needs before a decision is made.
In other business, the board approved a 2010 funding agreement of $17,473 for the Chemical Dependency Agency. This followed an overview of 2009 expenditures given by Chemical Dependency members Burl Maley and Steve Breeding.
Diana Gering and Diane McNichols, co-Health administrators, discussed leasing the medical building from John Hood. Board chairman Gail Engle will visit with Hood and ask him to come in at 9 a.m., Feb. 8 to discuss a lease agreement.
Sheryl Williams, county treasurer, presented information on the compensating use and sales tax revenue received in January (December collections) in the amount of $55,053.58. November collections were $57,566.95.

—received an overview of how the state budget cuts will impact Pawnee Mental Health and its 10-county service area from Robbin Cole, Pawnee Mental Health executive director.
—received Cloud County’s first place award for its exceptional loss ratio for 2008 for groups of its premium size from Carl Eyman, KWORCC.
