CCCC Softball Sweeps Doubleheader

Kiera Brack tossed a shutout in game one and three players drove in two runs each in game two as the Cloud County Community College softball team swept a home doubleheader from the Southeast (Neb.) Community College Bobcats on Friday.
Brack shut out Southeast on five hits as the Thunderbirds won game one 8-0 in five innings.
In game two, Brack, Camille Stauffer and Harley Smith knocked in two runs each to lead Cloud County to an 8-6 win.
Cloud County jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning in game one.
Kaylee Pinneo doubled to drive in Jillian Artiges and Kaitlynn Baca.
Pinneo scored on a single by Stauffer.
Stauffer got home on a fielder’s choice ground ball by Madyson Buescher.
The T-Birds upped the lead to 5-0 when Buescher scored on a double by Alyssa Reynolds in the fourth inning.
Pinneo homered with Brack aboard in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Reynolds singled home Brooklyn McCormick to make it 8-0 and end the game because of the eight-run rule.
Brack struck out seven and walked two in recording the shutout.
Cloud County rapped out 11 hits.
Pinneo was 2-for-3 with four runs batted in and two runs scored.
McCormick had two hits and Reynolds drove in two runs.
Southeast grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game two.
Cloud County (4-2) answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Brack singled home Baca with the first run of the inning.
Pinneo and Brack scored on a double by Smith.
McCormick singled to drive in Smith.
The Bobcats closed the gap to 4-3 with two runs in the top of the second inning.
Cloud County made it 6-3 with two runs in the bottom of the second.
Baca scored on a single by Brack and Stauffer singled home Artiges.
A solo home run by Buescher gave the T-Birds a 7-3 cushion.
Scoring two runs in the top of the sixth inning, the Bobcats closed the gap to 7-5.
Artiges scored on a base hit by Stauffer in the bottom of the sixth and Cloud County led 8-5.
Southeast added one run in the top of the seventh inning to make it 8-6.
Paige Mahler pitched all seven innings to get the win. She gave up six runs on nine hits, struck out four and walked four.
