Eighth grade girls place second

CLAY CENTER — Defeating Wamego and then falling to Susan B. Anthony Middle School, Manhattan, the Concordia eighth grade girls' basketball team placed second in the Clay Center Tournament on Saturday.
Concordia downed Wamego 33-29 in the opening round of the tournament.
The Panthers tumbled to Susan B. Anthony 33-20 in the title game.
Wamego led Concordia 14-13 at halftime.
The Panthers scored eight points in the third quarter, to seven for Wamego, to tie the game at 21-21.
Concordia outscored Wamego 12-8 in the final period to capture the win.
Emalee Johnson led Concordia with 12 points.
Carlie Carlgren and Madison Meyer scored nine points each for the Panthers.
In the championship game, Susan B. Anthony led Concordia 19-12 at halftime.
The Panthers were limited to eight points in the second half. Susan B. Anthony added 14 points.
Meyer scored 10 points for Concordia. Carlgren finished with six points.
The Concordia B-team split a pair of games.
Concordia tumbled 34-18 to Clifton-Clyde.
The game was tied at 14-14 at halftime.
Clifton-Clyde outscored Concordia 20-4 in the second half.
Zoe Britt scored six points for the Panthers.
Concordia got past Clay Center, 18-14.
The Panthers led 14-7 at halftime.
Clay Center scored six points in the second half to four for Concordia.
Britt scored six points for the Panthers.
