Gropp wins two events at Belleville Lions Club Invitational

BELLEVILLE — Junior Kaide Gropp won two events for the Concordia High School boys’ track and field team in the Belleville Lions Club Invitational on April 16 at Republic County High School.

Turning in a time of 11.61, Gropp placed first in the 100-meter dash.

Gropp captured first in the 200-meter dash in 24.09. He also finished third in the 400-meter dash in 54.30.

Concordia’s 4x100 relay team of Gropp, Ryker Wildeman, Isaias Irigoyen and Jagger Johnson ran 46.65 to place first.

The Panther boys scored 44 points and tied for sixth place with Valley Heights in the upper division of the meet.

Nemaha Central captured the team title with 150 points. Beloit was second with 81 and Marysville was third with 74.

The Concordia girls scored 77 points and placed fourth in the meet.

Beloit won the meet with 180 points. Nemaha Central was second with 106 and Marysville was third with 87.67.

Burke Kindel placed fourth in the pole vault for the Panther boys by clearing 11-0.

Isaias Irigoyen finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (48.54) and the high jump (5-6). He also ran on the 4x400 relay team with Wildeman, Kindel and Dane Cleveland that was sixth (4:04.65).

Jadrian Riley recorded a sixth-place finish in the javelin (137-1) for Concordia.

The Concordia girls posted four second-place finishes in the meet.

Carlie Carlgren ran 16.53 to place second in the 100-meter hurdles.

Charlize Cash finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.34. Carlgren was fourth (52.54).

Hannah Bridwell was second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:53.48.

Concordia’s 4x100 relay team of Carlgren, Madalyn Bowers, Lillian Nuss and Kynlee Hamel placed second with a time of 53.74.

Hamel finished third in the 100 dash in 13.58, third in the 200 dash in 29.59 and third in the high jump by clearing 4-10.

Gabi Lange placed third in the pole vault by making 9-0, fifth in the high jump with a best of 4-10 and sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 31-6.

Lillian Nuss was fifth in the 200 dash in 29.78.

Keely Kindel made 8-0 and placed fifth in the pole vault.

Concordia’s 4x400 relay team of Lange, Nuss, Cash and Brexlynn Koch finished third in 4:32.26.

Bridwell, Rylie Jessup, Aubrey Stahlman and Skye Johnson ran 11:07.77 and placed fourth in the 4x800 relay.
