T-Birds compete in Ward Haylett Invite

MANHATTAN — The Cloud County Community College men’s and women’ s track and field teams competed in the Ward Haylett Invitational hosted by Kansas State University last Friday at the R.V. Christian Track and Field Complex.

The meet was originally scheduled for two days, but was reduced to one day because of the weather.

Awakhiwe Ndlovu placed second in the triple jump for the Cloud County men (50-2 1/2).

Brandon Hutchinson finished third in the pole vault (14-5 1/2) and Skylar McFarling was sixth (13-5 3/4).

Corey Ottey placed fourth in the high jump (6-10 1/4). Arne Roehl and Trey Collins tied for fifth (6-4 3/4).

Cloud County got a fourth-place finish by Bradley Nkosi in the 110-meter hurdles (14.74). He was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (55.23) and Paul Tasset was seventh (1:08.35).

Lucas Kenney placed fifth in the shot put (42-1/2).

Jaren Aurand was sixth in the javelin (174-10) and eighth in the discus (126-8).

Koy Behnke placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.07).

The Cloud County women had Jasmine Sakaguchi win the pole vault by clearing 11-10. Bradie Medina was seventh (11-4 1/4).

Emaleigh Towner placed fifth in the shot put (38-11 1/2).

Emery May finished sixth in the discus (126-3) and Margherita Sala was seventh (124-5).

Cordaelia Williams placed sixth the high jump (5-3). Chenessa Davis was eighth (5-3).

Lela Singleton was seventh in the 400 dash (59.94).

Jaelyn Rumback placed eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:07.54).

The Thunderbirds are competing in the Region VI Outdoor Championships in Pratt, May 2-4.
