Hosting Marysville for a doubleheader on Sunday, the Concordia Blues American Legion swept the Bulldogs with 8-7 and 11-7 wins.

In game one, the Blues won 8-7.

Marysville scored first in the top of the first and held the Blues to only one walk to start the game, before scoring four runs in the second to expand its lead, 5-0.

The Blues got on the board in the bottom of the third with a trio of runs from Reece Auid, Boone Richard, and Drake Blochlinger to make it a 5-3 game after three innings.

After the Blues kept Marysville off the board in the fourth, Concordia tied the game with a pair of runs by Caleb Hansen and Braytin Hake.

After stranding two runners in scoring position in the top of the fifth, the Blues took the lead in the bottom of the inning thanks to Chane Parker. Marysville retook the lead in the sixth with two runs to make it a 7-6 game, but an Auid run in the bottom of the inning kept it tied.

Both teams would get runners in scoring position in the seventh but were unable to bring the runners home. After a three-up-three-down top of the eighth for Marysville, Richard, after a triple got him to third, would score the walk-off run, thanks to a Blochlinger single, to take game one.

Marysville opened up game two with two runs in the top of the first inning which were immediately neutralized, thanks to five runs from the Blues’ Blochlinger, Ayden Argo, Parker, Rush LeDuc, and Kale Schroeder, to give the Blues a 5-2 lead.

After another two Marysville runs in the top of the second inning, the Blues struck back with three runs of their own, thanks to Blochlinger, Argo, and LeDuc, with Maddox Frey and Schroeder in scoring position before out three limited the damage.

In the third inning, Marysville was finally able to gain ground on the Blues, scoring three runs while limiting the Blues to three straight outs after a hit-by-pitch. The Blues held Marysville to a three-up-three-down fourth inning before three more runs from Parker, Frey, and Schroeder made it an 11-7 game. With two runners on base for Marysville in the top of the fifth, out number three ended the game.

In what was supposed to be a triangular with Fairbury (Neb.) and Tecumseh, which got rained out, the Blues hosted Fairbury instead on July 8, with the Blues victorious 6-1.

After a three-up-three-down first inning for both teams, the Blues struck first in the bottom of the second with Maddox Frey scoring, Carter Graham getting into scoring position, and Caleb Hansen getting walked before out number three ended the inning.

The Blues expanded their lead in the bottom of the third inning after only giving up one hit and no walks to the Landsharks, with the Blues scoring three runs from Boone Richard, Ayden Argo, and Chane Parker, and Rush LeDuc getting into scoring position.

In the top of the fourth, the Landsharks scored their only run of the game on an unearned play. The Blues scored a pair of runs, thanks to Gehrig Bechard and Graham.

With another three-up-three-down inning for both teams in the fifth, Frey picked up another hit in the bottom of the sixth. The Blues held Fairbury to three straight three-up-three-down innings to close the game.

Richard, Argo, Parker, Frey, Graham, and Bechard all scored, with Richard having two hits with a triple. Parker, Frey, and Graham each had one hit and a walk.
