The Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees met for its regularly scheduled meeting on May 19, 2025, at 5 p.m. in the President’s Addition.
Present were Chairman Dave Garnas and members Kevin Pounds, Amber Hanson, Jesse Pounds, Kevin Muff and Richard Hubert.
In action items, the board voted to approve the contracts for full-time administrative staff for 2025-2026, for a new division dean of math, science and technical programs and an assistant volleyball coach, all effective on July 1, 2025.
In recommended items, the board discussed approval of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. Since last discussed, the plan has had the addition of comments from a survey sent out to related organizations in the community.
The next phase will be to define and adjust the goals within each pillar to reflect some of the more pertinent items from that survey.
In reports, President Amber Knoettgen congratulated the women’s and men’s track teams on their placing at Nationals.
The Women’s team placed 4th overall and set a number of personal best times and team records.
The men’s team placed 17th as a team and had a third place finish in javelin.
Also, coaches Drew Mahin and Ted Schmitz won the 2025 Coaching and Assistant Coaching award.
She also congratulated the baseball team on its strong finish to the 2025 season at the recent play-offs.
Vice President for Administrative Services Caesar Wood reported on housing as it currently stands for the fall.
Currently, housing has 209 applications, 168 fully paid and 41 unpaid, which is a little higher than this time last year.
Further enrollment days are just beginning this coming month.
Work will begin on the renovations to the Arley Bryant Gymnasium on May 21 and continue up thru August.
This board meets once a month at 5 p.m. in the President’s Addition on the last Monday of the month ( barring holiday weeks).
These meetings are open to the public.
