COUNCIL BLUFFS — Heading to Iowa for a double-header for only its third matchup in the month of March, the Cloud County Community College softball team dropped two games to Iowa Western CC.

In game one, the T-Birds lost 8-0.

The Reivers were close to pitching a perfect game, with the only blemish being a Shaylee Keslar walk in the top of the sixth inning breaking up the perfect game. Cloud would be unable to get on base as the T-Birds struck out 11 times, with nine being third strike swings.

This is the second no-hitter handed to the T-Birds.

In game two, the T-Birds fell 7-5.

The Reivers scored first in the bottom of the second, with the T-Birds getting on the board in the top of the third to tie the game. Iowa Western retook the lead with a run scored in the bottom of the third inning, before picking up two more runs in the fourth inning. Cloud would cut the lead down to one, 4-3, with two runs scored in the top of the fifth, but the Reivers would keep the T-Birds at bay by tacking on a run in the bottom of the inning. The Reivers would pick up two insurance runs in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead, before Cloud came up short after scoring only two runs in the top of the seventh to end the game 7-5.
