Hosting Bethany College JV and North Platte Community College for the first half of a four-game home stand, the Cloud Community College women’s basketball team picked up a pair of wins to extend their winning streak to four.
Versus North Platte Community College, the T-Birds won 76-54.
The T-Birds grabbed the momentum early in the first quarter. After the Knights tied the game 5-5, Cloud went on a 15-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 20-7 lead. Cloud ended the quarter leading 25-10, thanks to holding the Knights to 4-16 shooting for the quarter.
North Platte opened the second quarter with an 8-4 spurt and got the lead down to 11 with 7:29 remaining in the quarter, the lowest it would get for the rest of the game. Cloud would go on a 13-3 run over the rest of the quarter and push the lead up to 21, to end the half up 42-21.
Cloud maintained control for the entire second half of the game. The T-Bird defense continued to make things difficult for the Knights, limiting them to 33.3 percent shooting in the third quarter and only allowing three makes from behind the arc the entire game.
Sofija Todorovic led in scoring with 25 points and added seven rebounds and five assists.
Camiah Muldrow had 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Amanda Makela and Leila Washington each had eight points, Makela had six rebounds and three steals, with Washington having nine rebounds, a steal and a block.
Against Bethany College JV, the T-Birds defeated the Swedes 87-59.
The game was competitive to start. After the Swedes tied the game halfway through the first quarter at 8-8, the T-Birds went on a 19-2 run to end the quarter with a 27-10 lead.
The T-Bird defense was putting pressure on the Swedes, while the offense was able to get good looks and converted on a good amount of them. Cloud held Bethany to only three points in the second half of the quarter, as the T-Birds entered the locker room up 49-22.
The third quarter was more of the same; the Cloud offense was slow to start but quickly got rolling, scoring 12 points to Bethany’s four points halfway through the quarter. The T-Birds slowly continued to build their lead thanks to the strong defense and quick offense, as Cloud led 77-33 entering the fourth and coasted the rest of the game to an 87-59 victory.
Jelena Jankovic led in scoring with 20 points.
Todorovic had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal.
Shea Wurtz had 12 points, eight rebounds, three steals and a block.
