CHS boys wrestling wins Wamego Raider Classic

WAMEGO — Earning the first team win of the season at the Wamego Raider Classic tournament, the Concordia boys wrestling team picked up nine top-three finishes.

Landen Belden, 106, went 1-2, dropping the first two matches before ending the day with a win by fall in 1 minute 26 seconds.

Jacksen Whitley, 113, went 4-0 and took first place. Whitley won his first match in one minute 16 seconds, his second match in 55 seconds, his third match in 19 seconds, before ending his day with a 25-second victory to take first place.

Quin Kymer, 120, went 4-1 and took second place. Winning three of the first four matches all by fall within two minutes, the other by decision. Kymer fell in the first-place match to finish second.

Bryson Sorensen, 126, went 2-2 and finished in fifth place. After winning the first match by sudden victory, Sorensen dropped the next two matches before closing the day with a win by fall to take fifth place.

Rush LeDuc, 132, went 3-2 and took fifth place. After a round one win in just 22 seconds, LeDuc dropped the next two matches before winning two straight matches by fall in one minute and a minute and four seconds to take fifth.

Colton McWhorter, 138, went 3-2 and finished in fifth place. After going 1-2 in the first three matches, McWhorter won two straight matches to close the day with a fifth-place finish.

Cooper Wogomon, 144, went 1-3 and finished in fourth place, with the sole win being by tech fall in round one.

Braytin Hake, 157, went 4-1 and finished in second place. Winning four straight matches to start the day, two by fall, one by tech fall, and one by major decision, Hake fell in the first-place match to take second.

Andrew Romero, 157, went 2-3, with an opening win by fall in one minute and 59 seconds, and a win by forfeit in the seventh-place match.

Drake Blochlinger, 165, went 5-0 and took first place. Blochlinger won the first two matches by fall in under two minutes, then two by tech fall, and then won the first-place match by forfeit.

Deekon Holbert, 175, went 5-0 and took first place. With four straight wins by fall, two in less than 30 seconds, Holbert closed the day with a major decision win in the first-place match.

Tre Hamiel, 190, went 3-1 and took second place. With a tech fall win, a major decision win, and a win by decision to start the day, Hamiel lost by decision 7-5 in the first-place match.

Max Metzler, 215, went 5-0 and took first place. Metzler won all five matches by fall, three being less than 90 seconds, including a win by fall in 34 seconds in round five to secure first place.

Clayton Viereck, 215, went 3-2 to take third place. Falling to teammate Max Metzler in round one, Viereck fell in round two before winning three straight matches to end the day, with two falls being under 45 seconds.

In the first official competition of the 2025-26 season, the Panthers fell in a team dual to Abilene.

Landen Belden, 106, lost by fall.

Jacksen Whitley, 113, won by fall in 1:03.

Bryson Sorensen, 126, lost by technical fall.

Rush LeDuc, 132, won by technical fall 15-0.

Braytin Hake, 157, lost by fall.

Drake Blochlinger, 165, won by fall in 1:29.

Deekon Holbert, 175, lost by fall.

Tre Hamiel, 190, won by decision 5-3.

Max Metzler, 215, won by fall in 1:24.

Clayton Viereck, 285, lost by fall.

The Panther boys will next wrestle on Dec. 13 when they compete at Minneapolis for a dual.
