AUGUSTA, Kan. — Heading to south central Kansas for the 4A West regionals, the Concordia girls wrestling team saw three wrestlers punch their ticket to the state tournament in Salina, including two new faces from last year.
Bridget Waite, 115, went 0-2. The freshman ends the season with a 5-14 record.
Layla Aggson, 120, went 2-2, with both wins coming by fall (3:09 and 1:34) in matches one and three. The freshman went 12-14 on the season.
Hannah Bridwell, 135, went 3-2, Bridwell opened the day with a win by fall in 1:16, and after a loss in round two won back-to-back matches by fall in 1:48 and 2:44, before falling in the final match of the day. The junior went 10-8 on the year.
Gabi Lange (ranked number two in 4A), 140, went 4-1 and finished in third place. Lange opened the day with a win by medical forfeit and a win by decision 10-3, before falling to #1 ranked Megan Ryan of Rock Creek. She closed the day with a win by major decision, 12-1, and a win by decision, 9-4, to finish in third place and advance to the state meet for the second year in a row.
Mackenzie Beam, 145, went 1-2, with the sole win coming in match four with a win by fall in 1:41. Beam ends her freshman season with a 12-19 record.
Jori Letourneau, 170, went 0-2. The senior concludes the season with a 6-19 record.
Isabelle Alexander, 190, went 2-3 and finished in eighth place. Alexander won her first match by fall in 5:36 and match three in 1:40, managing to finish in eighth place and advance to state.
Ava Rowland, 235, went 1-2 and finished in sixth place, with the sole win coming in match two by fall in 19 seconds. Rowland qualified for state with a sixth-place finish.
Lange, Alexander and Rowland will next compete in the 4A State meet hosted at Tony’s Event Center in Salina on February 27.
