CHS wrestling competes in Salina South Tournament

SALINA — In the first wrestling competition of the new year, the Concordia High School boys wrestling team finished in sixth place at the 10-team Salina South tournament that had the Panthers as the third smallest team by school population.

Quinn Kymer, 120, went 1-3 and finished in fourth place, with his sole win coming in round one by fall in 3:17.

Bryson Sorensen, 132, went 0-4.

Rush LeDuc, 132, went 3-1 and finished in second place. LeDuc won his first three matches all by fall, 40 sec., 1:37, and 3:05, before falling in the first-place match.

Colton McWhorter, 138, went 0-5.

Andrew Romero, 150, went 0-4.

Braytin Hake, 157, went 3-2 and finished in second place. Hake fell in match one, before winning three straight matches, two by fall (1:15 and 50 seconds), and one by medical forfeit, before falling in the first-place match.

Drake Blochlinger, 165, went 5-0 and finished in first place. Blochlinger won his first match by fall in 1:48, before winning three straight matches by technical fall (17-1, 17-2, 20-3), and winning the first-place match by medical forfeit.

Clayton Viereck, 215, went 2-2 and finished in third place. After falling in match one, Viereck won match two by major decision 10-0, and after a bye and falling in round four, Viereck won by fall in 59 seconds to end the day.
