Clifton Art Buffs discusses club activities, other matters

Posted

The Clifton Art Buffs is a local art group consisting of artists and art enthusiasts who meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the Clifton City Hall. After a short business meeting, we get down to the fun part of the day: painting, drawing or whatever the project of the day is. Some months, we may take a tour of area attractions and we have a holiday party at Christmas time.

We are a mixture of beginning artists and weathered artists, but we all have one thing in common: we love art!

Some of our projects include taking turns displaying a painting at the Kaw Valley State Bank, where they feature a different artist each month. We display our work at other businesses as requested, as well as participate in parades and other festivals.

Currently, we have five members: one from Clifton, two from Clyde and two from Concordia. We are a nonprofit organization, and our dues are a modest $10, payable in January of each year. We are always looking for new members.

We held our monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Clifton City Hall. We discussed holiday party plans and worked on doing printmaking with leaves and other textures. Our homework assignment was to paint or draw the building where we attended school.

Our homework assignment for Tuesday, Oct. 21, is “something Halloween.” Our meeting project will be to draw or paint a sunrise or sunset. This can be done in any medium; please bring your own supplies.
