WASHINGTON, KAN. — Winning their third straight game and fourth on the season, the Clifton-Clyde football team handed their TVL neighbors to the north a 38-22 loss.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles finally got on the board with a pair of touchdowns. Joseph Fahey scored first on a 1-yard run, and Kyzler Damman scored on a 65-yard punt return, but both point-after attempts failed. Washington County also got on the board but failed their PAT. Clifton-Clyde entered halftime with a 12-6 lead.
The Eagle offense continued to keep pace in the second half, scoring two more touchdowns in the third. Damman threw a 15-yard pass to Emitt Tiemeyer, a 31-yard pass to Trenton Benne, with Tiemeyer converting the two-point conversion.
Damman threw a 35-yard touchdown to Gage LeClair in the fourth quarter, with LeClair also scoring on a 32-yard run. Washington scored two touchdowns in the second half and converted both two-point attempts.
Damman went 4-11 passing for 87 yards and three touchdowns, with 70 yards on the ground on 15 carries. Damman also had 11 tackles.
Fahey went 2-3 passing for 15 yards with 72 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
LeClair had 50 yards receiving and a touchdown, with 94 yards on the ground and another touchdown. LeClair led in tackles with 12.
Striker Affolter had 10 tackles.
Benne had two tackles and two interceptions.
