Connie Marie (Schumock) Dickinson, age 85, passed away in the comfort of her home with loved ones, on May 21, 2025. She was born May 31, 1939, in Clifton, Kansas, to the late George Alphonso and Evelyn Marie Schumock.
After graduating from Clifton High, Connie started her life adventures in the Army where she was trained as a surgical nurse. While serving her enlistment, she met the love of her life, Oscar Dickinson, of New Braunfels, Texas, whom she married in 1957. They shared a full life together living in Texas and California before settling in Kansas City, Missouri, for 31 years.
Connie retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1986, as a Senior Budget Analyst, with 25 years of service. Connie and Oscar eventually relocated to Concordia, Kansas, in 1996. Connie was involved in community service, being a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary Post 76 (30+ years), and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed the adventure of traveling vacations and taking cruises in Alaska, and the South Pacific with her beloved family.
Oscar departed the earthly realm prior to Connie in 2010.
She is survived by three children: sons, Robert and LeRoy; daughter Sherri Hamiel, and her grandson, Ronald Hamiel III; sister, Mary Guidry and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Nutter Mortuary at 116 E. 6th Street in Concordia.
The funeral service will be May 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Nutter Mortuary with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating.
The burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors from Ft. Riley and The American Legion Post 76.
