COTTONWOOD FALLS — Taking a full five-golfer team to the state meet in the inaugural season, the Clifton-Clyde golf team had two top-15 finishers and a third-place team finish.
Oliver Nobert was the top Eagle with a third-place finish with a score of 75 to earn the bronze medal.
Jack Skocny was tied for 14th with a score of 83, finishing in 15th place.
Ethan Roeder finished in 25th place with a score of 90.
Parker Knoettgen finished in 30th place with a score of 94.
Sevy Wurtz tied for 45th with a score of 111, finishing in 46th place.
“We had a really good showing at the state tournament in Cottonwood Falls coming in third in our first year as a team,” said head coach Austin Swanson.
“We were able to practice really well and improve over the last two weeks, and I believe that was key for us. But overall, the season was a success just based on the improvement that I saw from all of the golfers. I’m truly excited for what we can do in year two.”
Lakeside won its fifth straight state championship with a +17 team score. Rock Hills finished second with a team score of +42, and Clifton-Clyde was third with a score of +58.
Jace Cunningham of Lakeside won individually for the third straight year with a score of 65. Eli Schmitt of Lakeside was second with a score of 72.
