RANDOLPH, Kan.—Heading on the road to start the season with a triangular with Onaga and Blue Valley, the Clifton-Clyde volleyball team split the matches 1-1.
In the first match versus Onaga, the Eagles fell 2-0. After a close 25-18 set one, with the Buffaloes coming out on top, the Eagles fell in set two 25-9. The Eagles had more errors, 14, than kills, 12, in the match.
Sevy Wurtz led in kills with four, with five digs and an assist.
Jordi Fahey led in digs with seven and had a kill.
Gracen Sacco led in assists with five and had two kills.
In match two of the day, the Eagles defeated Blue Valley Randolph 2-1. After falling in set one 25-18, the Eagles won set two convincingly 25-15, and closed out set three with a close 25-21 victory.
Wurtz led in kills again with eight, led in digs with 13 and had three serving aces.
Scout Skocny led in assists with 19—Eagles had 23 kills as a team in the match.
Paige Joy led in blocks with three, had two aces, seven kills and four digs.
The Eagles have their home opener with the Clifton-Clyde Invitational at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 13.
