Hosting Clifton-Clyde for a doubleheader last Friday, Concordia F&A fell to the Eagles 11-1 and 14-0.
The Eagles scored first in the bottom of the first after holding F&A to a three-up-three-down inning, as the Eagles brought in four runs from Isiah Jackson, Brennan Zahm, Emitt Tiemeyer, and Brayden Burnett, after Tucker Davis struck out the leadoff batter. Grayson Palmgren picked up a hit, and Elijah Shepard was walked, and were in scoring position before out number three ended the top of the second inning. The Eagles kept their momentum with four more runs, with Easton Knoettgen, Zahm, Tiemeyer, and Burnett scoring.
F&A continued to build their offense in the third inning, after getting two straight outs to start, Bailey Streit hit a double before scoring, with Eli Versch and Landen Belden getting walked, with Palmgren hitting a single. F&A got two straight outs to start the bottom of the third, before the Eagles rallied off three straight runs from Knoettgen, Jackson, and Zahm, scoring with Tiemeyer and Burnett getting in scoring position before out three ended the inning. Three straight strikeouts ended the game, with the Eagles taking game one.
Game two stayed in Clifton-Clyde’s favor, scoring five straight runs from Knoettgen, Jackson, Zahm, Tiemeyer, and Burnette to kick off the game, with another run from Cooper Girard after a ground out. The F&A offense was neutralized, with three straight strikeouts in the bottom of the first.
The same five Eagles scored to start the second, with Girard scoring after getting on base from a fielder’s choice to get Clay Joy out, and would later score to make it a 12-0 game. Shepard would get on base for the first and only time for F&A for the game on a walk, before three straight strikeouts ended the inning.
Clifton-Clyde would bring in two runs in the third with Jackson and Zahm scoring, and Gabe Knouse, Burnette, and Joy getting on base before F&A ended the game with two straight outs. Tiemeyer and Zahm combined to throw a no-hitter for the Eagles.
