WAMEGO — Ending the season with one runner at the state meet hosted at Wamego, the Clifton-Clyde season concluded with Cohen Girard earning a top-20 finish. Girard finished in 17th place with a time of 17:36.40, as the only Eagle to make the state meet. He was the third fastest 1A Twin Valley League runner, behind Titus Cobb (Blue Valley)who was fifth and Gavin Fulkerson (Centralia) who was 16th.
Individually, Eli Gaeddert of Goessel won the 1A boys race with a time of 16:02.80. Broxton Gall of Ness City was 2nd with a time of 16:26, and Joel Valadez of Stafford was third with a time of 16:44.10. In the girls’ race, Avery Boydston of Ellis was first with a time of 18:53.45, with sister Taryn right behind her in second place with a time of 18:54.20. Stephany Esparza of Ness City was third with a time of 20:27.72.
Ness City won the girls’ race as a team with 44 points and was second in the boys’ race, which was won by Quinter with 62 points.
