Jay DeMars, 82, died Thursday, August 12, 2021. He was born December 14, 1938, in Aurora, Kansas, and graduated from St. Benedict's College, Atchison, Kan., and Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. He married Marcella Copple in Winfield, Kan., on September 9, 1961. Jay was a mathematics instructor at Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Mich., Wichita State University, Wichita East High School, and Boys' Town, Neb. He was also a licensed home builder. He is survived by his wife, Marcella DeMars; daughters, Annette (David) Sandefur, Theresa (Ron) Trollope, Christine DeMars; son, John (Kathy) DeMars; grandchildren, Emily (Michael) O'Connell, Katie (Slade) Hackney, Victoria Sandefur, Richard (Katie) Sandefur; Jennifer DeMars, Kevin DeMars, Elizabeth Sandefur, Roxanne Sandefur; great-grandson, Bear Hackney; brother, Michael DeMars.
