Joan Ann Barleen, 86, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2019, at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
Joan was born August 26, 1933, in Concordia, Kansas, where she resided until moving to Topeka in 2015. She was the youngest of five children born to Norman “Pete” Barleen and Katie Edith Kearn Barleen. She attended Concordia schools and worked many years serving others in different positions at the Concordia Nursing Center, as a nurse’s aide, dietary aide, social services designee, and activities director.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul; and sisters, Ruth Runyan, Norma Bisnette, and Erma Strait. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Republic County, Kansas.
