Katherine Sue Schumock, 79, of Lawrence, passed away on August 22, 2026, at her home. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Katherine was born January 12, 1947, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of John Daniel and Ruth Harriet (Chesebro) Trude. She graduated from Concordia High School in Concordia, Kansas, in 1965.
She worked for The University of Kansas in Administration for over 20 years.
She married George Melvin Schumock on December 5, 1964, in Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Danny Schumock.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Scott) Beard, son Eddie (Carol) Schumock, both of Lawrence, KS; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Hinkle of Washington, KS; six grandchildren, Kenny, Rachel, Sammy, David, Cody, Darian, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to VNA Hospice that may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
