Larry J. Baxa was born November 3, 1946, to Fred Sr. and Lottie (Oborny) Baxa in Belleville, KS, and passed away July 16, 2026, at the Belleville Health Care Center at the age of 79.
Larry was a graduate of Cuba High School, graduating in the class of 1964. He joined the Army National Guard, earning the rank of Private First Class (PFC) before his honorable discharge in 1971.
On October 26, 1968, Larry was united in marriage to Lenora Rudolph, and three children were soon to follow, Luanne, Lonnie and Leonard. The two later divorced.
On August 7, 2004, Larry married Gail Newcomb, and the two made their home in Belleville until Larry’s passing.
Larry was a lifelong auctioneer, attending the Missouri Auctioneering School and graduating in 1981. He traveled all over the state of Kansas working at various livestock auctions in Concordia, Belleville, Washington, Clay Center, Cisco Park and Oak Hill, estate sales and auctions of any kind. Larry worked for Thummel Auctions in Salina, KS, in later years and could be seen helping wherever he was needed.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Lottie Baxa; brothers, Marion Baxa and Fred Baxa Jr.; sister Veronica Baxa; and brother-in-law Lumir Oborny.
He will be remembered by his wife Gail Baxa of Belleville, Kansas; sons Leonard (Bianca) Baxa of Fairfield, California, Lonnie (Theresa) Baxa of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Luanne (Jeff Logue) Willbrant of Clifton, Kansas; sisters Marvine Oborny of Bellwood, Nebraska, Ella (Larry) Rudolph of Belleville, Kansas; sister-in-law Karen Baxa of Belleville, Kansas; 3 grandchildren Joshua (Jessica) Mueller, Phillip (Taylor) Mueller, Dillon (Emma) Willbrant; 6 great grandchildren Jinsley, James, Jensen, Jason, Cecilia and Phillip Jr.; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Edward Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 1:00-7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Vigil/Rosary Service will be at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
