Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Clemens have a boy… Mr. and Mrs. Webster Wilkins and son visited Friday with Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Eckert… Haircuts in Chicago have gone up to 75 cents… Work was started Wednesday morning on the excavation for the erection of a new gasoline pump at the Doig Garage… Wheat harvest is over in most areas and farmers are starting to cut their oats…

75 YEARS—JUNE 22, 1950

The new gym and vo-ag buildings can be built with a loan of $75,000 worth of bonds over a 15-year period. The interest will be 1.79%, the interest on the original building in 1919 to1920 was 5% interest. The agriculture building will be 100 feet X 40 feet. The gym will be a full 84 X 50 playing court and can seat 650 at basketball games and 1000 for an auditorium… BIRTHS: Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoover have a son. 50 YEARS—JUNE 19, 1975

Robyn Halepeska and Connie Kearn Welsh were named on the Dean’s List at C.C.C.C. for the spring semester. Both had a 4.00 grade average… Among those attending a reunion of old school dist. No. 40 were 2 former teachers. One. Mrs. Edna Windhorst, now of Wells, said she taught in the horse and buggy day. She said she was lucky. In 1917 was her first year to teach at age 17, her first class has 17 students. The other teacher Miss Francis Macy, had 9 of her former students present. She had 24 pupils in all 12 grades…MARRIAGES: Julie Hadorn to Randy Lange. Connie Kearn to Paul Welsh. Penne McDaniels to Timothy Chaput… Rainfall for the week 1.64…

Scott and Sonja Borwege 25th… Moisture for the week 1.23… Wheat $2.57, Milo $2.68, Corn $1.73, Soybeans $4.70 and Oats 95 cents… Laurence and Eunice Pacey and family members, Bob and Sharon Hauck, Janice Bulleigh, Nancy Sells, Shirley Mall and Laurie Zink spent a week in England. They enjoyed a visit to the Stainby Church where the records of Laurence’s great-grandfather Charles W. Pacey and wife Ann were married in 1858. Laurence and Eunice still live on the original 160 acre homestead that Charles W. Pacey proved up on when he came to Kansas in 1873.
