Luella Jean Marrs

Luella Jean Marrs, 89, died July 4, 2024, in Clay Center, Kan.  She was born on December 8, 1934, in Clay County, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Murphy) Schoneweis.  Luella was a graduate of the Class of 1953 from Longford High School.  She attended nursing school in Halstead, graduating in 1957.  Luella married Leslie Marrs on February 23, 1958.  He preceded her in death on August 15, 1996.  She worked as a nurse at the Clay Center hospital for one year.  Luella spent the rest of her nursing career at the Ottawa County Hospital until her retirement in 1999.  After her retirement, she made her home in Clay Center.  Luella was a member of the Wells United Methodist Church and attended the Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church in Clay Center. She enjoyed organizing family reunions and high school reunions through the years.  Luella was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Schoneweis.

Luella was survived by her son John and wife Tammera Marrs of Clay Center, Kan.; daughter Rochelle and husband Lynn Skillen of Lake Worth, Fla.; son Jeff Marrs of Davie, Fla.; sister Alice Brill of Newton, Kan.; and brother Rev. Wilbur and wife Irene Schoneweis of Wichita, Kan. Including six grandchildren, three step-grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11 a.m., at the United Church of Bennington in Bennington, Kan.
