Hosting NCKL foe Rock Creek in a rescheduled match 72 hours after the originally planned time, the Concordia High School softball team got swept by the Mustangs.
In game one, the Panthers lost 10-1.
Game one opened to a pitching and defensive battle early on, with neither team getting a hit in the first two innings, with the Mustangs only managing two walks. Both teams got going in the third, with Rock Creek getting their first hit before taking a 1-0 lead, and Concordia’s McKayla Cherney getting the first hit with a single and Morgan Lister getting on base on an error, but unable to be brought home.
Rock Creek brought in a pair of runs mostly on Panther errors in the fourth to make it 3-0. Camleigh Hake picked up a double for the Panthers and was brought home on a Catelin Benyshek groundout to make it 3-1. The Mustangs picked up three more runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh, with the Panthers only managing a Lister single in the sixth, to drop game one 10-1.
Lister and Hake each went 1-3 from the plate, with Cherney going 1-2. Lister also had eight strikeouts, pitching in seven innings.
In game two, the Panthers lost 22-0.
Rock Creek opened game two, trying to end the game early, scoring 12 runs in the top of the first to set the tone. Concordia would be unable to generate any offense this game, with three three-up-three-down innings, with the Mustangs scoring four more runs in the second and six in the third, to mercy rule the game 22-0.
