Panthers go 2-2 in home tournament, defeat Chapman

Hosting the nine-team Concordia Invitational volleyball tournament, the Concordia High School volleyball team went 2-2, just missing out on bracket play.

Starting the day versus Marysville, the Panthers won 2-0. After a 25-21 set one win, the Panthers took care of business with a 25-18 set two win.

In match two, the Panthers fell to Riley County 2-0. After a 25-20 set one loss, the two teams battled with the Falcons pulling out a 26-24 set two win.

In match three versus Southeast of Saline, the Panthers won 2-0. With a close 25-22 win, the Panthers got back on track with a 25-18 set two win.

Needing a sweep of Clay Center to advance to bracket play, the Panthers fell 0-2 to the number one team in 4A, dropping both sets 25-12. Clay Center won the tournament, dropping only one set all day.

Hosting Chapman on senior day, the Panthers had a clean sweep over the Irish, not losing a set across the two matches.

In match one, the Panthers won 2-0. After a dominating 25-14 set one victory for the Panthers, set two was a lot closer, with the Panthers grinding out a 25-23 set two win to take match one.

In match two, the Panthers also won 2-0. After a solid 25-18 set one win, set two was a tighter fight with the Panthers still victorious 25-21 to complete the sweep.

Kynlee Hamel led in kills on the night with 14 with Jaylin Rough having 12. Hamel led in digs with 22 with Baylin Arnold right behind her with 21. Roush led in blocks with four with Hamel having three. Rylie Jessup led in assists with 15 with Bridgette Blochlinger having 10.
