The Concordia P.E.O. EV Chapter had its monthly meeting on September 12. Barbara Shunn and Sonya Garwood hosted the meeting at the Wesleyan Church Life Connection Center.
With it getting cooler outside, the group started planning their Broadway Plaza Fence Project, which will take place in December. New gloves, scarves and hats, along with gently used coats, will be placed on the fence. This is a good way for us to get into the holiday spirit and share with the community.
Our fundraising and scholarship committees have been brainstorming ways to fund our scholarships in 2026. We will continue to offer our Secondhand Rose jewelry as well as look into other options.
Barbara Shunn, our delegate for the P.E.O. International Convention, gave a very informative program. The convention, held in Phoenix, Ariz., was attended by about 2,500 delegates. P.E.O. International has given $1,500,000 in scholarships over the last 11 years, and collectively, local chapters have given even more. Breakout sessions focused on ways to engage the next generation to grow our sisterhood. Other topics included learning how to lead others through change, presenting new ideas to maximize our charitable giving and celebrating each other and our successes.
The next meeting will be on October 3.
