SALINA — Sending eight wrestlers to the 4A State meet at Tony’s Pizza Event Center, the Concordia High School wrestling team saw three state placers, and picked up 12 victories.
Airiana Wogomon, 130 pounds, went 0-2, falling to number one-ranked Addilyn Wacker of Iola, and Morgan Meitchen of Wellsville in the consolation bracket. Wogomon finishes her junior season with a 21-15 record.
Gabi Lange, 135 pounds, went 1-2. Lange defeated Ansley Bear of Holton by technical fall in the first round, before falling to number one-ranked Haylei Potter of Burlingame, who finished in second place, in the second round. Lange then fell to Tommi Shuey of Wellsville in the consolation bracket to end her sophomore season with a record of 29-11.
Drew Sterrett, 144 pounds, went 3-2 and earned a fifth-place finish. Sterrett defeated Aaron Wyrick of Labette County by fall in 1:02, and Blake Riedel of Tongonoxie by decision, 14-7, before falling to Johnny Leck of Rose Hill in the semifinals. Leck finished in first place. In the consolation bracket, Sterret lost by decision to Tristen Cox of Andale by decision, 1-0, before defeating Cash Wilderman of Frontenac by fall in 22 seconds to earn fifth place. Sterrett finishes his senior season with a 39-6 record.
Drake Blochlinger, 157 pounds, went 3-3 and earned a sixth-place finish. Blochlinger won his first match by technical fall, 18-3, over Scott Sloan of Frontenac, before falling to number one-ranked Brady Martin of Tonganoxie, who finished in second place. In the consolation bracket, Blochlinger defeated Trent Harris of Silver Lake by fall, before dropping a match to Joseph Walsh of Abilene, and Cason Wyrick of Labette County in the fifth-place match. Blochlinger ends his sophomore season with a 39-8 record.
Tre Hamiel, 175 pounds, went 1-2 , falling to Leven Jones of Rose Hill by decision in the championship bracket. In the consolation bracket, Hamiel won by fall in 55 seconds over Brenner Lowe of Hiawatha, before falling to Dominic Ricciardi of Frontenac, who finished in fifth place. Hamiel finishes his sophomore season with a 27-11 record.
Max Johnson, 215 pounds, went 1-2, falling in his first match over Cole Rogers of Rose Hill, who finished in fifth place. In the consolation bracket, Johnson pinned Karter Naff of Chanute in 1:21, before falling to Devin Carroll of Augusta by decision, 4-1. Johnson finishes his junior season with a 27-17 record.
Harley Weathersbee, 235 pounds, went 0-2, falling to number one-ranked Meaa Allen of Perry-LeCompton and Madison Dutro of Chanute. Weathersbee finishes her freshman season with a 12-17 record.
Tracer Murdock, 285 pounds, went 3-2 and earned a fourth-place finish. Murdock defeated Tristan Busby of El Dorado and Carson Martin of Paola, before falling to number one-ranked Willy Jon Morales in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Murdock defeated Connor Herman of Halstead before falling to Martin in a rematch for third place. Murdock finishes his senior season with a record of 40-6, and has committed to wrestling for York University in Nebraska next year.
