WEST BURLINGTON, IOWA — Heading back to Iowa for another pair of matches, this time in the Midwest JUCO Classic hosted by Southeastern CC, the Cloud County Community College men’s basketball team picked up a pair of wins in the Hawkeye State.
In the first game for the T-Birds, they defeated State Fair Community College 81-66.
For the first time since the 2023-24 season, Cloud had six players reach double figures in the same game. Al Brooks Jr., Kuel Akot, D’ontez Walker, Syncere Burnette, Elidjah Savane and Manasseh Stackhouse were the six ‘Birds in double figures.
Al Brooks Jr. led in scoring with 23 points, rebounds with 16, blocks and steals with three each.
Kuel Akot had 13 points and three steals.
D’ontez Walker had 11 points and six rebounds.
In game two of the trip, the T-Birds defeated Missouri State University - West Plains 107-83.
This is the second time this year that the T-Birds scored over 100 points; it took eight games last year to reach that same mark.
Cloud won the game with efficient offense, shooting nearly 61 percent from the field and nearly 52 percent from behind the arc, and by attacking the boards, out-rebounding the Grizzlies 32-22. Grizzly free throws were the only way MSU-West Plains was able to stay in the game, as they made 22-29 free throws, while the T-Birds only went 9-22.
Brooks Jr. led in scoring with 24 points, and chipped in six rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Manasseh Stackhouse had 19 points, six rebounds and a steal.
Elidjah Savane had 18 points, four rebounds and two steals.
