Three Lady Panthers advance to state, Boys’ team wins dual

MCPHERSON — After wrestling in the Kansas 4A West Regionals, the Concordia High School girls’ wrestling team picked up 12 wins on the day and will be sending three wrestlers to state.

Tagynn LeDuc, 100 pounds, went 0-2 on the day. LeDuc finishes her freshman season with a 6-18 record.

Tierney Breault, 110 pounds, went 1-2, picking up a win in the consolation bracket. Breault finishes her senior season with a 7-21 record.

Harlin Bannister, 115 pounds, lost both her matches. Bannister ended her freshman season 11-21.

Airiana Wogomon, 130 pounds, earned an eighth-place finish, going 3-3 on the day and advancing to state. After receiving a bye, Wogomon fell in the second round before winning three straight matches. Wogomon lost her final two matches to earn eighth place.

Gabi Lange, 135 pounds, earned a fifth-place finish with a 5-2 record. After having a first round bye, Lange lost her first match of the day, then proceeded to win four straight matches before falling to number four-ranked Lillie Ledford, Buhler. In the fifth place match Lange won by technical fall to secure a trip to state.

Ruby Genereux, 145 pounds, went 1-2 on the day. After having an opening round bye, Genereux fell in round two. After a bye in the consolation bracket, Genereux won her round three match before falling to number four-ranked Taya Rowley, Chapman. Genereux finished her senior year with a 16-13 record.

Jezia Hernandez, 155 pounds, went 2-2 on the day. Hernandez won her opening round match before falling in round two. In the consolation bracket, Hernandez won in just 50 seconds, before falling in round three. Hernandez finished her senior year with an 8-18 record.

Isabelle Alexander, 170 pounds, lost both her matches. Alexander ended her sophomore year with an 8-21 record.

Harley Weathersbee, 235 pounds, lost all three matches, but still earned an eighth place finish and a trip to state.

Other wrestlers that did not wrestle at regionals: Bridgett Blochlinger finished her freshman season with a 20-7 record. Brexlynn Koch finished her sophomore season with an 11-9 record. Jordi Jones finished her freshman season with a 4-3 record. Lyllian McNutt finished her freshman season with a 0-4 record.

Wogomon, Lange, and Weathersbee will compete at the 4A State Championship wrestling meet in Salina on Friday, February 28.

In their final dual of the season, the Concordia High School boys’ varsity wrestling team defeated Clay Center, 48 team points to 30, picking up nine wins.

Jacksen Whitley, 106 pounds, won by technical fall over Ronnail Beougher.

Blaike Joubert, 113 pounds, lost by fall to number five-ranked (4A) Thayne Pfizenmaier.

Rush Leduc, 120 pounds, lost by fall to Blaize Charbonneau in 3:21.

Brady Drury, 126 pounds, lost by fall to number three-ranked (4A) Hayden Kalivoda.

Bryson Sorensen, 132 pounds, lost by fall to Miller Coffman.

Carter Eakins, 138 pounds, won by decision (2-1) over JT Alton.

Drew Sterrett, 144 pounds, won by technical fall over Aiden Argo.

Deekon Holbert, 150 pounds, won by fall over Noah Gibson in 2:36.

Braytin Hake, 157 pounds, won by forfeit.

Drake Blochlinger, 165 pounds, won by forfeit.

Tre Hamiel, 175 pounds, won by technical fall over Levi Kramer.

Clayton Viereck, 190 pounds, lost by fall to Dylan Kramer.

Jacob Barr, 215 pounds, won by forfeit.

Tracer Murdock, 285 pounds, won by fall over Sam Peters in 43 seconds.
