Shirley’s life began on October 5, 1926, when she was born to Harry and Neva (Stout) Turner. She was raised in the Vine Creek area near Longford, Kansas.
Shirley married the love of her life, Paul D. Bronson Jr., on August 18, 1946.
Paul preceded her in death on October 18, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Fern and Waine Turner, and sister June Buche, and her nephew Kevin Turner and son-in-law Jon Nelson.
Shirley is survived by her children: Son Dana (Sherie) Bronson of Abilene, Kansas, and their family; Daughter Karla Nelson of Bennington, Kansas, and her family; 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; Brother Doyle (Doris) Turner of Salina; Sister-in-law Dorothy Turner of Clay Center.
Visitation with be Monday evening at 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Phelps Funeral Home in Miltonvale.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, Kansas, with burial at Miltonvale Cemetery.
