Hosting Minneapolis to cap a short four-game non-conference stretch, the Concordia High School softball team falls to 2-16 on the year.
In game one, the Panthers lost 12-1.
The Lions struck first, with a trio of runs in the top of the second inning to take the early momentum, and took a solo run in the third to make it 4-0. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Lions scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to go up 6-0. Concordia finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, after Morgan Lister got on base with a single and swiped second on a passed ball and stole third, scored on a Kyndra Brandt single to make it a 6-1 ballgame. Minneapolis would pour in six runs in the top of the seventh to take game one.
In game two, the Panthers lost 15-4.
Minneapolis continued with the momentum, scoring four runs in the top of the first to take an immediate 4-0 lead. After one Lion run in the second and three in the third, Concordia finally struck in the bottom of the third; Lister got on base on an error, McKayla Cherney got on base on a fielder’s choice that got Skylah Garst out, Brandt was walked, Bella Stuber was hit by a pitch that scored Lister, Cherney stole home, and a Catelin Benyshek single scored Brandt and Stuber to make it a 8-4 ballgame.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Minneapolis scored five runs to make it 13-4, and scored a solo run in the seventh to go up 14-4. Lister scored on a Stuber groundout to get the final score of 14-5.
