USD 333 chooses new superintendent

The Concordia Unified School District 333 Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 12 at 6 p.m. in the school board office.

President Brad Berk, Vice President Mike Cleveland and board members, John Culley, Amber Lambertz, Jenny Parker, Nancy Owen and Lindsay Metcalf were all present.

In action items, the board voted to accept a bid from Design Central in the amount of $29,890.32, to continue work on the Holding Area/Hall of Fame at the high school.

This work will include the cabinets and shelving for the awards, benches for seating and trash and recycling receptacles.

A bid was approved early this year for the flooring in the same area and future projects may also include the addition of a ramp to improve access to the area, installed over the existing flooring and stairs.

In reports, the USD 333 Education Fund announced the awarding of $5,000 from the Cloud County Wind Farm for first grade books, $3,400 from the Community Foundation for Cloud County for Summer CAP Enrichment programs and $1,000 from Amanda Hilliard for the Concordia Middle School playground.

The board also approved the hiring of Paula Roegge (Driver’s Ed para), Patience Sawdy (CJSHS para), Sarah Brown (CES para), Kristi Benyshek (secretary at CES) and Jessica Palmer (summer CAP). 

It also accepted the resignations of Shelby Parker (CES para), Sara Fleming (CJSHS para/substitute teacher), Adam Yungeberg (para at WCHS), Dyanara Quinones (CES para), Jordan Pachta (Parents as Teachers Ed), Jocelyn Ishler (Pike Valley para), Emily Loring (Pike Valley para), Danielle Mahin (7th-12th English/ language arts teacher), Adrianna Romo (3rd-4th grade interrelated teacher), Kelly Knedler (7th-12th grade vocal teacher), Marissa Montague (4th grade para) and Tori Jessup-Genereux (secretary at CES).

They also accepted the retirement dates of 9/1/2025 for Gail Whitley and 6/1/2025 for Carol Taylor and the transfer of Amber Farha (to full time Preschool para 2025/2026 school year).

The board meets once a month on the second Monday of the month at the school board office.
