Funeral Mass for Verle D. Istas, 92, De Soto, Kansas, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora, Kan., with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. Verle passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, at his home.
Verle was born on January 4, 1928, in Aurora, Kan., the son of Octave and Etta (Chaput) Istas.
He married Willadean Bergstrom on November 5, 1949, in Concordia, Kan. They were married for 56 years. She preceded him in death in 2005. Verle was also preceded in death by his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.
At age 19 he started with List and Clark Construction and worked for 46 years, retiring in 1993.
His hobbies included concrete yard ornaments, barn wood furniture, and silhouette metal designs.
Survivors include his children: Gary (Mary) Istas, Glenda (Richard-deceased) Bull, Bonnie (Keith) Andrews; three sisters; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
