WICHITA — Competing at the largest high school track meet in the United States, the Clifton-Clyde track team took home six top-three finishes at the state meet at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State.
The girls team finished as the 1A state runner-up with 58 points, and the boys team was 33rd with eight points. Ellis won the girls state title with 58 points, and Axtell won the boys title with 90 points.
Long jump — Girls: Sevy Wurtz won gold with a jump of 18’2”.
100m dash — Girls: Sevy Wurtz was second with a time of 12.47. Taegin Liggett of Ness City was first with a time of 12.25.
200m dash — Girls: Sevy Wurtz was third with a time of 26.03. Anna Jueneman of Hanover was first with a time of 25.56.
Triple jump — Girls: Sevy Wurtz was fourth with a jump of 36’7”. Havana Olander of Little River was first with a jump of 37’9.5”.
Pole vault — Girls: Jordi Fahey was second with a height of 10’6. Lillie Weiser of Onaga was first, also with a height of 10’6. Boys: Brady Pruser was fourth with a height of 14’. Will Wegerer of Cunningham was first with a height of 16’1.
3200m run — Boys: Cohen Girard was 10th with a time of 10:15.11. Landon Begnoche was 14th with a time of 10:44.26. Kaleb Arnold of Olpe was first with a time of 9:50.87.
4x800m relay — Girls: the team of Gracen Sacco, Jaci Winter, Piper Lawson, and Lillian Steinbrock was 13th with a time of 10:46.13. Osborne was first with a time of 9:49.08. Boys: The team of Landon Begnoche, Cohen Girard, Joseph Fahey, and Striker Affolter was sixth with a time of 8:26.48. Axtell was first with a time of 8:11.23.
High jump — Girls: Paige Joy tied for 12th with a height of 4’10”. Jessa Losew of Hutchinson-Central Christian was first with a height of 5’8”. Boys: Jack Skocny tied for 10th with a height of 5’10”. Jayden Linscheid of HCC was first with a height of 6’4”.
Discus — Girls: Calyn Baker was second with a throw of 129’3”. Natalee North of Ellis was first with a throw of 138’1”.
Shot Put — Girls: Calyn Baker was fourth with a throw of 38’3.75”. Natalee North of Ellis was first with a throw of 40’7.75”. Boys: Locklund Feight was ninth with a throw of 47’2.75”. Ethan Gaschler of Palco was first with a throw of 58’8.75”.
